Great to visit amidst the pandemic. Facilities were clean, staff was kind. Youre just there to drink beer and sit outside. They do serve food too. Nice place to hang with friends.
MoreAlways a great spot to hang out with friends. This place is an icon within the community. There are always people here, but it's never too crowded thanks to their huge outdoor and indoor spaces. The beer is good and food is pretty good, but it's not the really the reason you're coming here. You're coming to enjoy the people, spend time with friends and hang out.
MoreAlways a fun experience. Basic bar menu with a focus on traditional German style beers. The food menu is also very German influenced in a good way, brats and such. Really tasty. The outdoor space is beautiful but be aware it gets extremely loud and crowded when it's warm especially with "cool parents" who drag their kids here like it's a playground and the kids shouldn't be told to quiet down etc. If you can deal with this obnoxious caveat then it's a good time.
MoreOne of the best, if not the best, beer garden around. Always a good time, good beer and good food.
MoreWas it a little more enjoyable before it became a destination for people all over the city, nothing against non-Astorians, just that it’s now way more crowded on a regular basis than it was years ago? Yes. Is it still worth going and dealing with it being crowded, because the beer is great, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is delightful? Also yes.
MoreOne of my all time favorite places. It’s not fancy and the food is good although a bit overpriced, but gosh do I love coming here. Great for big groups, family, date nights, and young children during the day. Fun events too. Surprisingly large inside seating area, and large hall/event space. This place is an establishment, and a big part of why I love Astoria. Many birthday parties here and my 6m/o daughter has been here at least 8 times already. Love it.
MoreThe atmosphere and beers are great but we waited a solid 45 minutes for a burger and brat. When we went up to the grill they hadn’t even put a burger on the grill yet. We ended up asking for a refund and leaving. I’m not sure where the breakdown was because it wasn’t even that busy and I’ve been there before with no issue.
MoreWhat can I say about how freaking awesome this place is, that hasn't been said before? $12 doubles of mixed drinks, pitchers of beer starting around the same, huge outdoor space, great food, easy to get too. Only downside is sometimes getting a drink as it can get soooooo busy, so buy more than 1 round at a time
MoreBought my first comic book here when it was just a flea market. Now it's been consumed with delicious ales and very above average food that I was certainly not expecting to be so good. Be careful though, pick the wrong person on the wrong night and you can consider your day ruined. Drink with caution.
Moresocial distancing check, wonderful beer check, happy summer check!!!
Huge open space with a stage in the middle, very friendly staff and great selection of drinks, beers at good prices. Great place for big crowds and kid friendly.
MoreGood selection of beers, off course, can't expect anything else from a Beer garden. Food is good, a mix of German and American. Service is not quite good outside, bartender was very slow, inside is a different story, but overall place is good. Perfect for after work on hot summer days.
MoreFirstly, the security at the front was very friendly and had good energy. We all loved his vibe. First time here, very spacious and nice service. They have a friendly staff. French fries was good. I love breaded French Fries. Loved the sausages. Must try. Grilled Andouille mix of beef and pork. Delicious. Grilled Klobasa pork was delicious too. Hamburger was average. Weather was perfect to hangout in the garden. It Wasn’t too crowded for a weekday. Just right crowd.
MoreSolid place but it can get crazy busy with lines for drinks. I think there should at least be a place for water and such so it’s easy for non-drinkers or people with kids. I guess you could argue I shouldn’t be attempting to cater to non-drinkers at a beer garden. I suppose the drinkers are willing to wait in line. Definitely fun on a nice day but ny has a lot of cool outdoor spots. Worth checking both beer gardens out when in Astoria
MoreBottom line: awesome beer garden with a frosty Czech beer. Didn't try the food but this is more of a chill spot in my opinion. Gluten line: didn't eat but they have a full bar. Long line: awesome wide open set up with a live band during our visit. The selection of beer was somewhat limited but I was pleased to find a selection of proper Czech beers including a dunkel. Vibe was overall very welcoming and we had a great time hanging out here.
MoreBest beer garden in NY, full stop! It's kind of a trek relatively far from the subway station in Astoria, but when you get there, it's worth it. Huge grounds, great beer, and chill atmosphere.
MoreGreat summer spot. You should sefinitely go to silent disco events
This is a good place to grab a beer but a GREAT place to get fries. Oh man, the froes. Crispy, crunchy, perfect amount of oil. Best fries in Queens, hands down.
MoreNot bad. A little pricey but still not a bad atmosphere post pandemic. 21 por a picture of draft and bottle or mug is 8.
MoreBest 🍺garden in the Apple.
Went there for a business gathering. Fun times, food is def Germainish, so good if you like that type of cuisine, staff is friendly.. unique indoor/ outdoor set up..
MoreThe venue itself is pretty cool and laidback. But the prices are literally insane on alot of the menu items.
MoreWonderful stop for outdoor drinks and Central European style food. Nice part of the community.
MoreAuthentic Czech beer hall that has been a staple in the neighborhood for years. Good beer as well as other spirits. The menu caters to many different tastes. Large outdoor seating area which is great for groups. The interior bar is a very good place to get a beer as well. They also have a full dining room inside for meals.
MoreGreat beer garden for nice spring/summer days. The Chech food is quite nice, and almost authentic, but be careful kitchen is closed on Monday & Tuesday and weekends before 3pm (they're not clear about that on their website). The downside is that the place is extremely packed on nice summer evenings and the service is slow. Also servers are not particularly nice.
MoreAwesome prices. Great foods. Great location, very breezy and it makes you forget that you are living in the Big Apple for a while because of its backyard design.
MoreA staple in Astoria. Great outdoor space, with plenty of events. Indoors is a little small, but they can still pack them in. Definitely spent some time it in the cold just for the feel of the place. They have an event Hall available for parties. My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner there and it was great. The food was completely different from the normal many and it was a hit!
MoreThe atmosphere is great just plenty of TVs to watch your favorite sport. It's a great place to have a beer with family and friends. This place occasionally has live music and events at night. The only reason this place doesn't get five stars is because the outdoor bartender's attitude could be more friendly to put it politely.
MoreGreat beer selection and amazing sauerkraut. It's an institution, but not my favorite hangout. It gets extremely noisy with the sports crowd and everything is served in disposables.
MoreI'm a little biased, as I grew up very near this place and also worked and met my wife there. It's changed quite a bit, mostly for the better. An outdoor tree lined private picnic area with excellent German and Czech beers on tap, and very decent food as well. I love the Kielbasi, and the pork schnitzel especially!
MoreThis place is unique and way over delivers. We stumbled in during a Czech fest and had a great time. We met a few people but generally everyone kept to their own climate. Super fun and cool. Will go again.
MoreFun spot for hanging out with a group of friends! Wide variety of beers and drinks. Better in the spring when it is not so hot outside to enjoy sitting out!
MoreSeemed like a cool place for friends and families to hang out but definitely not a place for non drinkers. If you’re pregnant or your group’s DD, you won’t feel welcome here. I was with a group who all ordered drinks however since I wasn’t drinking, I went to get a coffee but couldn’t get back in. I either had to chug my coffee outside before I could go back in to hang out with my friends or go somewhere else. This place should have more non alcoholic drinks or allow outside beverages. Not your typical beer garden where you can bring snacks and have a picnic.Other than that, the place has a ton of seating which does get filled up. I noticed the only area that had empty seats was the smoking area which surprised me that smoking sections still exist outside of Vegas.
MoreCame to a quiet club event .... It was really fun....this place has lots of draft beers and outdoor seating.... There is food and a really have a good time here....
MoreThis Bear garden still ok
Reasonable prices for food and beers. Good vibes. You can also play jenga and other games. There is music and tv screens. (Plzen beer taste almost as good as in Czech).
MoreWe had our son’s birthday party at the beer garden and it was an awesome event. Having a 4 year old’s party at a beer garden might sound weird, but the place is super kid-friendly during the day. Our waiter, Ryan, was awesome and the manager on call was super organized and polite. I met my wife at the beer garden so it was a real pleasure celebrating our son’s birthday there! Thanks for being a great place!
MoreThe outdoor seating was amazing. Varieties of beer plus full bar on top of that snacks and some food options as well. There was happy hour as well although we werent there during happy hour. Bartenders and even security guards were super friendly and welcoming. The only reason to remove one star was when server closed our tab on the card that we just left at bar to open tab on. Without informing us brought the settled check in our table not asking for permission to use our credit card, which was not professional at all although server was cheerful and friendly. However will b back for sure.
MoreI went on a beautiful Sunday with my wife and two daughters (3 yr and 3 month old). We were able to get a table outside without a problem and the umbrellas were great for shade. A waitress took our food and drink orders and we didn't have to wait long. The french fries, chicken fingers and sausage was good for the price. I love the beer selection though and $18 pitchers are a big plus. My 3 yr old was also able to run around and even made a friend as many parents had brought their kids. Overall a great afternoon!
MoreGood place to come on a sunny day to drink beers with a big group. I wouldn't recommend it for a small group (2-3) as it is very loud and it is communal seating. Great for parties or gatherings. Delicious Czech beers and awesome food. Crowded on a nice day but where isn't in New York?
MoreI've been here atleast a dozen times, never have I had a bad experience. Food is great, beer is grand, and the atmosphere and ambiance rules
MoreYou can tell at this place was originally built by Eastern European immigrants. The layout is very true to form, and affordable beer is bountiful. I went there early in the season so it was not fully staffed, and they were not playing traditional music. I will definitely work through again in the summer to see if that changes!
MoreBig outdoor space, great selection of beers. Full open bar, food and service. Separate area for smoking zone and non smoking zone 👍👍👍
MoreVery nice local pub with a nice selection of beers and ciders. I loved the vibe here, very layed back with a friendly staff. They also have happy hour whenever a NFL game is playing which was nice surprise. Whenever I find myself on this side of NYC I will sure to visit this beer garden again! Wonderful overall experience!
MoreKitchen staff were not wearing masks at all on 7/27 at around 5:30 pm. State requires you to serve food with beverages.... you comply. State also requires kitchen staff to wear masks. Please comply. Notified 311.
MoreGreat place to relax and have a few beers
Great spot to hang out in the spring/summer
Good variety of beers, at reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere, tasty pretzel w cheese.
MoreThe original beer hall in NYC, this place is good for anyone. The drinks are cold and well priced, the food is great beer hall food and the ambiance is neighborhood like and friendly. Come here with kids in the day, and it's no problem, come here at night and it's got great unpretentious atmosphere.
